We had the enormous pleasure to reach Beirut virtually and talk to a Dance Mag founder and editor-in-chief, researcher, and dancer, Jana Al Obeidyine. Not only she spoke about how the outstanding design of the magazine came about from the art directors Timo Durst & Max Weinland, but also about the 3 issues published so far, the contributors, and the contents. Do not miss this beautiful conversation.

a Dance Mag is a Beirut-based global dance magazine that transcends differences, distances, and disciplines to tell the stories of people from all over the world, who are dancing their lives and giving their bodies a voice. It’s an annual independent publication that looks at the world through the lens of dance. It captures ephemeral moments and turns them into timeless beautifully designed narratives.

Brief Festival invited The Magazine Club to contribute to its new edition and we decided to make it in our own way, speaking about print magazines directly with their editors. Here’s the second Q&A, this one with Marc Sancho, art director of Barcelona-based magazine Perdiz. Nov 27 2020

“It was very important that a Dance Mag would not come up as a photographic magazine because otherwise, it would be going again within the norms of dance as a visual art form, and it’s not what the magazine’s about”.
